General Questions
Are you locally owned and operated?
Yes. We are one of the few locally owned and operated plumbing companies in the Kansas City metro area. In today’s home service industry, many plumbing companies are owned by large private equity groups or national chains. While they may operate under familiar local names, decisions are often made out-of-state, with corporate pricing structures and sales quotas. Being local means we answer to our customers, not investors.
Are you licensed and insured?
Absolutely. We are fully licensed and insured to perform residential plumbing services in both Missouri and Kansas. Our licensing ensures all work meets local codes and safety standards, and our insurance protects both our customers and our team.
Are your technicians background checked?
Yes. All of our technicians are professionally trained and background-checked for your safety and peace of mind. We understand that inviting someone into your home requires trust, and we take that responsibility seriously.
Where are you located and what areas do you serve?

In Missouri, we service:
- Jackson County
- Clay County

Service & Technical Questions
Why is my water bill so high?
A sudden increase in your water bill often indicates a hidden leak or plumbing issue. Common causes include running toilets, dripping faucets, underground water line leaks, irrigation system problems, or a failing sump pump discharge line.
If your usage hasn’t changed but your bill has, it’s a good idea to schedule a professional inspection to identify the source before it becomes more costly.
How do I know if I need a new water heater?
Signs you may need water heater replacement include:
- Inconsistent or no hot water
- Rust-colored water
- Leaking around the tank
- Strange noises coming from the unit
- A water heater that is 8–12 years old
We can inspect your system and provide honest recommendations on whether repair or replacement makes the most financial sense.
How do I know if my sump pump is working properly?
Your sump pump should activate automatically when water levels rise. Warning signs of an issue include:
- Loud or unusual noises
- Constant running
- Failure to turn on during heavy rain
- Visible rust or corrosion
- It hasn’t been tested in over a year
Given the heavy rains we experience in the Kansas City area, we recommend annual sump pump inspections to prevent basement flooding.
Do you repair and install gas lines?
Yes. We provide gas line repair and installation services for water heaters, stoves, fireplaces, outdoor kitchens, and other gas appliances. Because gas lines involve safety risks, it’s important that repairs and installations are handled by licensed professionals.
If you suspect a gas leak, leave the area immediately and contact your gas provider before calling for service.
What is the difference between drain opening and drain cleaning?
Drain opening removes a blockage to restore flow, typically using a cable or auger.
Drain cleaning is a more thorough process that removes buildup along the pipe walls, such as grease, soap residue, and debris. This helps prevent recurring clogs and improves long-term performance.
Drain opening solves the immediate problem. Drain cleaning helps prevent it from coming back.
Should I use chemical drain cleaners?
We generally do not recommend chemical drain cleaners. Many store-bought products contain harsh chemicals that can damage pipes, especially older plumbing systems. They often provide only temporary relief and can make professional repairs more difficult.
Professional drain cleaning is a safer and more effective long-term solution.
How often should plumbing be inspected?
We recommend having your plumbing system professionally inspected once per year. Annual inspections help identify small issues such as leaks, corrosion, or failing components before they become costly emergencies.
Routine inspections are especially helpful for older homes and properties with sump pumps or aging water heaters.
Scheduling & Pricing Questions
Do you offer emergency plumbing services?
We prioritize urgent plumbing issues during our regular business hours and work to schedule emergency situations as quickly as possible. While we do not offer 24/7 service, we respond promptly to critical issues such as burst pipes, sewer backups, and major leaks.
How quickly can you schedule service?
In many cases, we can offer same-day or next-day service depending on availability and the urgency of the issue. Our team works hard to provide timely scheduling while maintaining quality workmanship.
Call us at (816) 765-4843 to check current availability or schedule service online.
Does someone need to be home during the appointment?
We recommend a current resident over the age of 18 be present during the service visit. If you’re unable to be home, we can coordinate access with you in advance, but a payment method will need to be provided beforehand.
Do you provide free estimates?
We charge an $89 diagnostic fee to properly assess plumbing issues and identify the root cause of the problem. If you choose to move forward with the recommended repair, the diagnostic fee is applied toward the cost of the work. In other words, you’re not paying extra, it simply covers the time needed to accurately diagnose the issue.
In certain situations, we also offer free second opinions. Contact us for more details.
What payment methods do you accept?
Our preferred methods of payment are check or cash. We do accept credit and debit cards; however, a 3% convenience fee will be applied to all card payments.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, we offer financing to help make larger plumbing repairs and installations easier to manage. We have a few different options, including plans with no interest for a set period and longer-term payment options. Most approvals only take a few minutes. You can apply when you receive your proposal or get pre-approved anytime here: https://www.morganmillerplumbing.com/financing/
